It feels so good to see Alice and Claire back together again! Milla Jovovich shared this picture of her and Ali Larter on the set of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter now filming in Cape Town. The two look fabulous as always, even if Alice is a little beaten up.
Check out the new image from Resident Evil: The Final Chapter below:
“Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs after Alice is betrayed by Wesker in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began – Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse. In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.”
Alice, as we can see in this picture, seems to have her work cut out for her. Not only is she most likely going to have to take down the Red Queen and Albert Wesker, but she is going to have to do it without any of her super powers. I love the entire franchise, but my favorite installment is the original when Alice is pitted against the undead without her powers. There is something about her being a bit more vulnerable and human that makes the story more interesting. Lets be honest though, she’s basically a ninja so its not like she is completely helpless.
As exciting as it is that Claire is back, I can’t help but to wonder why we haven’t heard anything about Jill? Jill came to play such a major role in the story that it would be impossible to leave her out. What do you think her role will be in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter?
According to Deadline.com Ali Larter is returning for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. I don’t know about you but that was music to my ears. I really enjoyed seeing Ali play Claire in the films and felt like her and Milla have good on screen chemistry.
Now we just need confirmation that Sienna Guillory will be back as Jill and Shawn Roberts as Wesker and we are golden.
Are you as excited as I am to hear the news about Ali?
I’ve had a really good feeling about the Pet Sematary reboot since I learned that the movie will be directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) written with Jeff Buhler (Midnight Meat Train). Buhler spoke with deadcentral.com about the upcoming reboot, see what he had to say below:
“The characters in this script make some tragic decisions, and the horror is about the ramifications of those decisions. There are still the supernatural aspects of the book, with the pet cemetery and the burial ground from which things come back from the dead, but the real horror is, ‘What do these things do to the family? What does it do to a person to see their child killed, but then to know that they can bring them back? How do you tussle with that idea? And if and when you make that choice, what does that do to you? Will that child be the same? How can life ever return to normal?’”
“This is pretty far from the 1980’s film, which I adore for certain things that are very intrinsic to that time period in terms of the genre, like a truck driver smoking a joint to a Ramones song. But when a little kid comes back with a scalpel and is like, ‘I want to play with you,’ it kind of becomes Chucky. With this one, we really wanted to get into the emotional aspects of it. There’s still plenty of visceral horror that’s explored, but I’ve always felt that if you lean more into the characters and into their emotional lives, when the visceral shit hits the fan, it’s ten times more scary.”
I love that he touched upon the characters in the script making some tragic decisions. The decisions that are made in the original movie have such tragic consequences, which is what made it so interesting and terrifying to me. If those terrible decisions were never made at all, the story would be very short–Little boy gets killed, family grieves, family moves on. Sounds boring right?
The only piece of that interview that I do not necessarily agree with is when he says “…it (the original) kind of becomes Chucky.” They are the same size, yes, but completely different. Even today I am still terrified by little zombie Gage. Seeing him
go from that cute little blonde innocent boy (as seen above!) to this little creepy evil zombie child is unsettling. The whole movie is unsettling, which is why I guess I like it so much! It evokes emotion, and to me that means it is a successful horror movie.
I’m excited to learn more about the Pet Sematary development! What about you?
So according to Milla’s Instagram account filming is about to take place in South Africa!
“Mommy and big baby at the carnival in Paris! (We made a pit stop on the way to South Africa!”
So, they finally revealed the names of the new Ghostbusters.
In order from left to right we have Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones), Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), Erin Gilbert (Kristin Wiig) and Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon). At first I wasn’t sure how this new Ghostbusters was going to work, but the more I think about an all female cast, the more I like it. In my opinion the two original movies are classics that can’t be touched. I’m not even sure that a sequel with the original cast would work right now. There is something special about the first two that can’t be recreated.
How do you feel about the direction of the new Ghostbusters?
YAY! My first blog post. And I can not be more thrilled to have the day I decided to write my first post coincide with the day Milla Jovovich decides to post a photo on Instagram from the new Resident Evil movie. Check the image out below:
“Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” was delayed while Milla gave birth to her second child. Of course we couldn’t be too upset about the delay seeing how happy this made her, but I’m sure all her fans are geeking out seeing her prepared to take on the character of Alice one last time. So exciting, yet so bitter sweet to know that this is probably the last time that I can stalk the production of a Resident Evil move starring Alice. It has almost become a tradition of mine since I first heard the news that my favorite leading lady was starring in my my favorite video game-now-movie. As much as I love the movies and many of the other characters (Carlos, JILL), we all know that Alice is the main reason we all keep coming back. If it weren’t for her I can not believe that the series would have lasted three entries let alone SIX.
Speaking of the other characters, I’m so interested in seeing who is actually going to return and what their part will be. Can they top the Alice and Jill battle in RE:5? One can only hope. The cast is looking good so far with IMDB listing a “rumored” return of Wentworth as Chris Redfield, Sienna as Jill Valentine, Spencer as K-Mart, Bingbing Li as Ada Wong, Shawn Roberts as Albert Wesker and Johann Urb as Leon Kennedy. Let’s all hope that these key characters return for the final show down against the Red Queen. I know the series has had its weaker entries (especially in the latter half), but I have a good feeling about the final chapter and am looking forward to learning some more official details.
Were you as excited as I was to see Milla post this picture?? Are you excited to learn more about the final entry?
